Humbleness (if that’s really a word)

The vast, incredible landscape and the diversity of the people we encountered on the Camino reminds me of my smallness in the world—very similar to standing by the ocean and watching the waves come and go.

Reaching the top of the hill, after many hours of walking —- and decending the hill because we have to —— required some reflection.

I am humbled by the many Pilgrims who have faced the same trials and challenges—often under circumstances far more difficult than my own. Many I saw in passing on our way to the same destination.

The Camino made me aware of my limitations. It also taught me the value of asking for help when I needed it—a lesson that (for me) is harder than the physical journey itself.

I was humbled along the way by the kindness and generosity of local people, fellow pilgrims, and strangers whose actions and words reinforced the simple notion: small things matter……a smile, a word of encouragement, a shared table, or a helping hand all left a lasting impact.

The Camino reminded me that none of us can walk our path entirely alone.
